Do it yourself weddings are my favorite to shoot, hands down. They’re usually smaller events, and so they’re much more intimate. Family members and friends all chip in–from food to decorations to music–and it’s awesome to see so many people work together for two people who they love. And I’m always amazed at how creative people can be when putting together all the details. For example, at Michelle and John’s wedding, Michelle (who is a librarian) found these awesome vintage book covers about marriage and made those into little bookmarks for all the tables. Each had a quote from the book on the back. Brilliant.
I have no idea how women get these amazingly creative ideas; maybe I should get married and give it a try (bah ha ha — just kidding, Mr. Susan).
Anyway, I just started getting this catalog for brides who are organizing DIY weddings. It’s full of things from cake-toppers to matchbooks, and even personalized flasks! Some of it is cheesy, which is the main appeal factor for many of the brides I know 🙂 But I love getting it and looking through it.
